Mumps is an acute, contagious, generalized viral problem, usually causing Discomfortful enlargement of the two salivary glands in the cheeks at the angle of the jaw.
Mumps is usually a childhood illness, however, teens and adults who are not immunized can also contract it. Though Mumps are less severe for an older individual, in case swelling of testes follows it in a teen-aged or adult male, a doctor should check out the risk for sterility.

| Symptoms |
|
The symptoms of Mumps include:
-Swelling of neck because of the enlargement of salivary or parotid glands.
-Swelling of the temples or jaw.
-Discomfort, Discomfort, or scratchiness in the throat.
-Abnormal swelling of the scrotum. It may result if the testicle becomes twisted in the scrotum and loses its blood supply.
--Discomfort or discomfort in the testicles, sometimes also radiating to the lower abdomen.
–Face Discomfort
-Headache
However, about a third of persons infected with the Mumps virus have no symptoms.

|
Mumps is Beneficial Effectsable through immunization. MMR immunization (vaccine) protects against measles, Mumps and rubella should be administered to children of 15 months old. The vaccination is repeated in some locations between 4 to 6 years of age, or between 11 and 12 years of age if not previously vaccinated. |

| Causes |
|
Mumps are caused by paramyxovirus and is transmitted by an infected person through the air in droplets from a sneeze or cough, or by direct contact, such as kissing. The virus then multiplies in the body. |

| Diagnosis |
|
Physical Examination: A physical examination confirms the presence of the Mumps in the form of swollen glands. Mumps-induced swelling of the parotid or other salivary glands must be distinguished from bacterial parotid involvement in streptococcal throat Problem created due to harmful organisms, diphtheria, or debilitation associated with poor oral hygiene, typhoid or typhus fever.
Serum Analysis: An elevated serum amylase level may also suggest the diagnosis.
