Basics

Dermatitis is a chronic skin problem, which is usually characterized by dry and itchy skin. It is an external skin condition caused by a systematic reaction to an allergen, usually in cosmetics, jewelry, metals, drugs or topical medication. If the patient suffering from Dermatitis indulges in prolonged scratching, it can lead to weepy, infected irritations. This scratching later develops into permanent rough and thickened skin. In infants this condition is normalized by eighteen months of age whereas in the case of adults it is usually persistent and resists Favorable Effects. It is a very common condition, which is found in two to seven percent of the population.

Dermatitis is an inflammatory problem of the skin that is associated with Problem due to narrowing of air passage and is considered, at least to some extent an allergic Malfunction of mind or body. Like many allergic Malfunction of mind or bodys it is found that Dermatitis also has genetic background. Symptoms

The first sign is the oozing of red, scaly, itchy patches on the infectant’s skin. Blistering is also common. Other factors which can produce a flair-up of skin problem (one type of Dermatitis) are: emotional stress, food allergies, excessive sweating, continual contact with water or detergent agents, certain chemicals and contact allergens such as wool, or nickel. In certain cases of Dermatitis, the skin seemed to be more susceptible to bacterial growth, especially the staphylococcus aureus bacteria. Frequently, intense itching can occur before any irritation is visible. People who suffer from this Malfunction of mind or body have a higher-than-normal tendency to scratch. Continual scratching can cause the visible symptoms of Dermatitis to disappear.

For severe Problem created due to harmful organisms where skin is weeping, antibiotics may be required and the physician should be contacted as soon as possible. Other Beneficial Effectsions are:

  • Not to scratch
  • Use of corticosteroid preparation.
  • Avoid skin preparations that contain lanolin or fragrance.

Diagnosis

The physician normally treats Dermatitis with topical steroid ointments and lotions. But if the Problem created due to harmful organism is severe he might recommend antibiotics as well. For severe itching, an antihistamine can be recommended. Corticosteroid ointments can dramatically decrease soreness and itching; however it also suppresses cell activity and growth. If cortisone is used over a long period of time, the skin can become fragile and weak, which increases its susceptibility to Problem created due to harmful organism and damage. This risk is increased when facial skin is involved, due to its delicate nature. So far the best therapy medical science can offer is the use of corticosteroid preparations and antibiotics if the Problem created due to harmful organism is severe enough.
