By stimulating the bone marrow, they induce an increased release of leucocytes, especially granulocytes, into the blood. This promotes the resistance reaction.
The phagocytic potency of the granulocytes and macrophages is significantly increased. The serum properdin level is increased, promoting the non specific resistance system.
The macrophages are stimulated to release effector substances such as tumor necrosis factor a, interferon b2, and interleukin 1.
The antiphlogistic effect and the inhibition of cell processes leading to cross-linking the collagen also supports wound healing. |
