L-Lysine is an essential amino acid because the body cannot manufacture it. Adequate amounts of L-Lysine must be obtained through the diet. L-Lysine is most known for its use in the relief of cold sores and herpes viruses. It appears to inhibit the growth of these viruses. L-Lysine is a vital building block for all other proteins. It Enhances ensure adequate absorption of calcium and the formation of collagen (the fibrous protein which makes up bone) for bone, cartilage and connective tissue. L-Lysine strengthens circulation and Enhances the Defense mechanism of body manufacture antibodies. It also Enhances control the body’s acid/alkaline balance, influences the pineal and mammary glands and plays a role in gallbladder function. It is necessary for all amino acid assimilation and assists in the storage of fats. L-Lysine is a precursor for L-Carnitine which is needed for fat metabolism. A typical therapeutic dosage of L-Lysine for herpes outbreaks is one gram - 3 times daily.
