Description of Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) |
 |
NutriBiotic Vitamin C 1000 mg Tablets deliver 100% natural vitamin C in concentrations higher than can be found in food, while being hypo-allergenic (free of all common food antigens). Our ascorbic acid is produced in a 15 step process, and has the highest solubility of all Pharmaceutical Grade vitamin C.
This product provides vitamin C in its simplest, purest, pre-measured form. This potent, pure and 100% natural, water-soluble nutrient is tableted to be convenient, easy to swallow, and rapidly dissolving. These tablets are made with a minimum amount of hypo-allergenic excipients. Tablets may be crushed and put into food or beverage if desired.
This was Dr. Linus Pauling's* preferred form of Vitamin C. Its low (acidic) pH can actually be a boon to the digestion of middle agers and those beyond, whose production of digestive acid commonly wanes. Taken with meals (as it should be), ascorbic acid can actually improve the uptake and utilization of other crucial vitamins and minerals, like iron.

Additional Information for Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) |
 |
Ascorbic acid more commonly known as Vitamin C is a water soluble vitamin. This is also a well known powerful antioxidant, being able to block the damaging effects caused by free radicals produced in the body during the transformation of food into energy. These damaging molecules build up over time and may cause various illnesses such as Cancer, heart disease and other conditions like liver damage, arthritis, glucose level impairment etc.
Vitamin C is important for
• Formation of collagen. ( a protein used to make skin, tendons, ligaments, blood vessels etc).
• Healing processes during infection disease, injury or surgery.
• Growth, repair and maintenance of tissues such as Cartilage, bones, gums, teeth etc.
• Reduction of damage caused by harmful free radicals present in environment such as Cigarette Smoke, chemicals, Car exhaust and other pollutants.
Deficiency of Vitamin C can lead to
• Inflammation (gingvilis) and bleeding of gums.
• Rough, dry and scaly skin.
• Dry and brittle hair.
• Nose bleeds.
• Decreased rate of wound healing.
• Anemia.
• Swollen and painful joints.
• Increased susceptibility to infections.
• Scurvy, a severe form of Vitamin C deficiency mainly affecting adults with poor nutritional intake.
Since the body is not able to produce Vitamin C itself, its uptake is through daily intake of Vitamin C rich foods. However, supplementation with Vitamin C may be needed in healing processes such as infections, wounds, surgery, injury and various diseases.
