My hair is very thick and past my shoulder blades and I use a nickle sized amount. I have very oily hair and a dry scalp (or I used to) and I would have to wash my hair every 16 hours or so with head and shoulders to control the oil and itching. With this, my hair stays clean and oil-free all day, and I haven't seen one single dandruff flake since I started using it.
