St. John's wort is an erect perennial growing to a height of 32 inches with bright yellow flowers in a flat-topped cluster. Native to Britain and Europe, St. John's wort now grows wild throughout much of the world. It is found in meadows, on banks, and roadsides, preferring sunny positions and chalky soils.
