Rutin is included in Bioflavonoids, which are a class of water-soluble plant pigments, also called Flavonoids. While they are not considered essential, some bioflavonoids do support health as anti-inflammatory, antihistaminic, and antiviral agents. Bioflavonoids are not vitamins although, hesperidin and rutin, have been mislabeled as Vitamin P.
