CAT'S CLAW

INTRODUCTION

This raintree herb has a long history in the treatment of cancer asthma & ulcer. It is a cleaner & booster herb for immunity, intestinal tract. By purifying the intestinal walls it enables the body to absorb nutrients. It has been used for the treatment of gastritis (inflammation of the stomach), arthritis, rheumatism (painful disorders of joints & muscles), menstrual disorders, and acne.


HISTORY:

In the South America Cat's Claw has been used for centuries to treat variety of problems including intestinal diseases, stomach ulcers, heal wounds, inflammations, fevers and also as a contraceptive.


RESEARCH FINDINGS:

Several researches are performed in different areas of the world since 1970's to explain that it may be useful in the treatment of arthritis allergies, organic depression, menstrual irregularities and disorders of the stomach and intestines. It is also used to treat diabetes, cancer, tumors & viral infections.

Dr. Brent Davis 1988 & 1992 research informed that it has the ability to wash whole intestinal tract & used in the treatment of stomach, bowel disorders & ulcers. European research indicated that it enhances the immune response by increasing the white blood cell activity.

Other researches indicated its powerful antimicrobial & immuno-stimulatory activity. (See Ref #1) Austrian researchers confirmed the immuno-stimulatory effect of cat's claw by using it in the chemotherapic treatments.


USES OF CAT'S CLAW:

IMMUNITY BOOSTING EFFECT: The chemicals in cat's claw enhance the immunity by activating the white blood cells that have the ability to engulf & assimilate harmful microbes. It has been used to support the body during chemotherapy and radiation treatments & helping to remove toxic metabolites

ANTIMICROBIAL EFFECTS: Cat's claw also possesses antiviral & antibacterial activity. It can help in fighting & speeding up the removal of cold viruses, so protect the skin & body from their infections.

ANTI-INFLAMMATORY EFFECTS: Cat's Claw is considered an anti-inflammatory & is used for all inflammatory diseases like arthritis, gastritis, asthma and dermal and genito-urinary tract inflammations. The anti inflammatory functions of cat's claw confirmed the uses of it in the treatment of shoulder, elbow or knee joints inflammation. Chemical in cat's claw also reduces the pain & swelling of joints.

CARDIOVASCULAR EFFECTS: Laboratory research on cat's claw chemical suggested that it may be useful in reducing the risk of heart attack by lowering blood pressure, slowing heart rate, increasing circulation, purification of blood, inhibiting formation of plaque on arterial walls and formation of blood clots in the brain, heart and arteries. EXTERNAL USAGE:

Cat's claw is used externally in the treatment of wounds & fungal infection. It is used as a wash for wounds to promote healing & skin impurities.


OTHER USAGE:

It is also used in cancer, fever, urinary tract infections, weakness, recovery from chemotherapy side effects & recovery from childbirth. It has also been used for the cleansing of kidneys.


PRECAUTIONS:

Although cat's claw used traditionally in the treatment of diseases & growth of body but it shows side effects when interact with other herbs so it should be taken with care. Some people have reported dizziness, nausea, and diarrhea when taking cat's claw.

Pregnant or nursing women should not be used cat's claw because it may causes miscarriage. There have been reports that Cat's Claw may lower female sex hormones levels like estrogen and progesterone.

Cat's claw should not be used in autoimmune disorders, tuberculosis & organ transplantation.
